Furniture that gives a home its order

Ash, oak and linen. Mortise-and-tenon joinery, hand-sanded surfaces, and furniture built to last a decade in apartments and old houses alike.

01Timber from European forests, rested six months before cutting.

03No seasonal turnover. Only structures that can be repaired, refined and passed on.

Collection

Six essentials, one home

From a low console to a platform bed, we keep only the forms that get used every day, and tie them together with one wood tone.

How we work

Three points we do not compromise on

Furniture is a durable good. It should not be designed like a fast-moving product.

  • 01

    Solid stock, few joins

Tops and sides come from the same timber batch, with continuous grain and colour matched before leaving the workshop.

  • 02

    Joinery plus fittings

Load-bearing parts are mortised; serviceable parts use removable fittings that can be tightened or replaced a decade later.

  • 03

    Water-based finish

Water-based wood wax oil instead of solvent lacquer, so a piece can be used the day it arrives.

The studio

It began with a table we could not repair

In 2016, founder Lin Xu tried to repair his father’s dining table in an old Shanghai apartment. The timber had split, the fittings had loosened, and no one would take the job.

So we started making our own: furniture that can be taken apart, maintained, re-fitted, and lived with by whoever owns the home next.

Today Mokora runs showrooms and workshops in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Berlin. Everything is still made to order, with no stock.

Made to measure

Furniture shaped by your rooms

Uneven walls, narrow doors, beams that must stay clear. We draw to the site, make a sample, then build in the workshop.

How custom works
  1. 01

    Site survey

A designer measures on site and records sockets, beams, door swings and the delivery route.

  2. 02

    Drawings

Three-view drawings and a material palette within two weeks, with a fixed quote.

  3. 03

    Sample and build

A 1:5 sample for critical details, then 8–12 weeks in the workshop.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Delivered by our own van, levelled on site, with a care manual and spare fittings.

owner’s note
They accounted for the sloped ceiling and the narrow door of our 78-square-metre flat. The day the cabinets went in, every gap lined up.

Questions

Before you order

How long does it take?

Stock pieces ship in 3–5 weeks. Custom furniture takes 8–12 weeks from approved drawings. Peak season schedules are confirmed in advance.

Can the whole home share one wood tone?

Yes. Natural ash or natural oak throughout, with a palette to adjust depth. Samples can be posted to you.

Do you deliver to other cities?

Shanghai, Hangzhou and Berlin include delivery and assembly. Other cities ship crated with our logistics partner, with assembly arranged on arrival.

What if something breaks?

Ten-year structural warranty, with fittings and parts held in stock. Removable structures can be serviced on site rather than replaced.
